Best (Forgotten) Bands of the 80s

Here is the top three... reverse order.

In number three is... The Sisters of Mercy. Alright - not quite totally forgotten, especially amongst the revived goth community. But largely, in the rush of the new Indie trendies to 'discover these bands.. for the first time' ;) the Sisters... well they should be coining it in (although coming from the 80s they probably got shafted by their record label and would end up without a pot to p*ss in no matter what!).

In number two is...The Jesus and Mary Chain. Controversial I know, but they did kind of invent Indie. Their one time drummer - Bobby Gillespie - went on to form (as the singer) Primal Scream (the luckiest band on the planet, becoming famous due to some lucky remixes... nice one guys!!). The Chain though, well they weren't exactly the most errr... tunesome of tunesmiths, but, they need to be acknowledged!

And number one... tada!!! it's The The. I guess many of you will be wondering who the hell The The is. It's kind of one guy really Matt Johnson. Not only did he release one of the greatest singles of the 80s in 'This Is The Day' but he - or should I say they - only went and made one of the greatest bloody albums of all times... it's called Dusk and if you don't own it, then blinkin get it!!! Now!! Okay?
